Starting over with Red Heart Super Saver Yarn and an I hook.

Bernat baby blanket yarn

Got gauge on crown by adapting pattern. But now the hat is smaller than predicted. Fits 12” instead of 13 to 14”. No stretch really, solid hat. Might try one size bigger.

The length, I did 5 rounds of hdc, instead of 6. Starting the ribbing now.

Switched to Bernat Baby Blanket, and a G hook. Still consistent with the gauge being off. 4 rounds is 5” So, in order to test the rest of the pattern, I changed the crown. I used sc instead of hdc and got gauge finally.

I can‘t get gauge. Will try with smaller yarn again tomorrow.

Switching to Bernat Softee Chunky with a 5 mm hook, and gauge is still off. Will see what size I end up with. My 4 rounds are 5” (instead of 3.75”)

Doing a baby size for my 6 month old grandson. Using Bernat Blanket Yarn. Not sure of color choice yet. 5.5 mm is an I hook, and 8 is an L hook.
