I did about 5 more stitches then a slip stitch in an attempt to even it out. I‘ve finished and if I‘m being totally honest I don‘t like it at all. I‘ve done many amigurumi patterns and haven‘t ever had one turn out like this.
I‘ll be honest I‘m finding the ears a little bit of a nightmare. It took me a minute to figure out the 4 slip stitches, but I did it after a bit of fiddling. I don‘t think the location of the decreases after that makes much sense one was near the back and the other to the side of one of the ears? I‘ve gotten up to step 7 where you do 20 increases, but that hasn‘t gone the whole way around the set of ears. There‘s like 6 or so stitches which are just left with this gap. I think my biggest issue with this pattern so far is that it isn‘t in rounds. I think it‘s quite important for continuity and accuracy to have proper rounds with a stitch count at the end of each round - I‘ve never done a pattern that works in rounds without actual rounds. It is leaving me scratching my head a bit. I don‘t know what to do now, I suppose I should leave it as is and just FO, stuff and sew - so the pattern creator can see what‘s happened but at the same time the idea of leaving this chunk without increases or regular stitches to even it out doesn‘t sit right with me.
I don‘t know why, but I thought there were two methods for the ears - one for sew on and one for no sew. I can only see instructions for sew, so I suppose that‘s what I‘m doing! (But in theory, I‘d imagine a no sew method would work best for this pattern as peeps, being marshmallows, look ”seamless”)
I‘ve finished the body, but it definitely does not look like a peep! It‘s a little wonky, and I think I‘m starting to understand what some of the others meant by ”making the increases and decreases more even” Mine may have turned out like this because I‘m the only tester using DK wool instead of chunky, but the pattern designer was curious to see how it would turn out with a lighter yarn. I‘m going to keep going and see how it turns out in the end.
Mine isn‘t really flat at the moment, instead it‘s working up fairly circular. Perhaps a little like a wonky diamond from the bottom But it‘s early on, so I‘m going to keep going and see how it turns out.
I think there is a typo on Row 8 as it starts with ”Repeat Row 8” - I‘m assuming it‘s meant to say 7 so I will repeat row 7
I‘m up to row 6 and am a little confused. You finish with 33 stitches in row 5, and in row 6 you skip 2 stitches in total. This then leaves you with 31 stitches at the end of row 6, but the pattern is suggesting you should have only 30... Will contact the pattern creator!
