Legs are pinned on. Sewing circular pieces onto a flat piece is the bane of my crochet existence. But it has to be done.
Tail is on.
The wings are on.
I decided to keep the oversized beak. It‘s still cute.
Leg bumps and feet finished.
Tail (in normal light)
I love the lacey look of the tail. Due to the yarn being black, I had to backlight it with my tablet so you can see the open details.
Wings. I love them.
Body finished. I made a black colored peanut. Hmmm. It appears that I crocheted the bottom section tighter than the top section. Maybe that will go well with the oversized beak.
Row 14. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this yarn (Caron Simply Soft) was working for amigurumi. It holds its shape well. Until row 14. With so many stitches packed together in such a tight space, this yarn kept splitting on me. About every third stitch, I would have to pick up the split part or redo the stitch entirely. Sigh. Just an fyi for anyone using Simply Soft for amigurumi.
Because the gray yarn was closer to a 3 weight than a 2, when I doubled it my beak turned out a little large. I will put the beak on later. That way I have the option to use a different yarn and remake it. And since I don‘t have any felt, I used a larger eye than I would have. This is a 12 mm.
Head - row 5
4 weight yarn (I‘ll need to double up the light gray) and a #7/4.5 mm hook. (My size G hook is lost inside a project somewhere. )
