I also changed the bottom gills to have one less row, and didn't fill them, so they fit better on my axolotl's head. I used the Sweet Snuggles chenille from Michael's. The instructions for the bottom of the tail did NOT add up to me, I had to chain 15 or add some stitches into the listed 13 to get them all in there. Overall the adorable big-headedness is irresistible and this make was instantly snatched up by a friend. Would make again! My version contained 1322 stitches.
