Description
This is a collection of 3 eye patterns I have created over the years for my creatures. I make a lot of baby items and safety eyes are too small for me to not have anxiety. Or I have an idea in mind and a safety eye just doesn't look right, is too expensive or the size/shade is incorrect. I have made and remade each eye multiple times and I know they will be a breeze once you get it down!
Play around with the colours and placements of the "glint", only you can decide what will bring your creation to life. I would love to be tagged in your completed patterns.
Each set of eyes should be completed in the set amount you need (usually 2), gauge and measurements can be adjusted to fit unique face shapes. Hook and yarn sizes can be changed as well. I do recommend keeping a consistent yarn size throughout, if you start with a 4 weight for the center, you will have to continue throughout the rest of the pattern with 4 weight yarn in each colour. Otherwise stitches will become lost and shaping will become compromised.

Sizing Your Eyes:
Some of these eyes look better fitted into a face, like the Hooded Eyes, available as a free pattern, meanwhile most others can be sewn or glued in place. This should be taken into account beforehand. I recommend making a practice eye first just to measure out width which can change due to tension. This also helps in choosing shades and colours for the eyes. Sometimes the colours chosen don't match or can look muddy. Most eyes should be placed between 4-6 stitches apart in the center of the head. This will be a good starting position, but feel free to play around.
