A cosy for your tea pot, knitted in an easy, stretchy, textured broken rib pattern.
Keep your tea warmer for longer and your fingers from burns!

This is an advanced beginner pattern, worked front to back on straight needles. You can also use a circular needle, still working front to back. Choose a circular needle that is at least 24 inches long.

It is a great stash buster, using only 60 yards of yarn (55 meters). Much less than the average skein!
I got best results with a double knit cotton yarn for this pattern, but you can choose any mid-weight yarn, as long as you achieve gauge with your corresponding needle choice.

You will knit two and purl two for most of this pattern.
The trickiest part of this pattern comes early, when you will divide the stitches and knit one side of the tea cosy, then break the yarn and return to knit the other side.
There is some simple decreasing towards the end.

There is a central hole to fit around your tea pot's handle.
The back is closed with short seams at the top and bottom of the tea pot's spout.
You can tailor these openings to your own teapot as you finish your seams.

The top is designed to fit around the knob of your tea pot's lid, keeping the pot warm from top to bottom.
