Knit a sweet candy cane ornament to use on your Christmas tree. You can also use it as a gift tag or tied to the top of a parcel as a decoration.

This is a quick project to work. Each candy cane takes 1-2 hours to make, depending on your knitting speed and experience.
Work them in a variety of contrast colors for a whole forest of candy canes.
This is a great way to use up your scraps of worsted weight cotton.

This pattern uses the icord knitting method on double pointed needles. It is worked with a double stranded yarn, which effectively stuffs the ornament as you knit it. Inside is a length of hobby wire, which gets bent into the distinctive hook shape once your knitting is completed.

Although I've taken every precaution to make the finished product safe, this item would not be suitable to give to a child under three.

Yardage: Main colour 3.5 yards (3.2 meters) Contrast colour approx 2.5 yards (2.3 meters)

Please note that achieving the correct gauge isn't terrifically important for this pattern. Just make sure you can't see in between your stitches.
