Yarn: Red Heart #4 White, Metallic Red, Paddy Green
Hook: Clover 4.00mm ”G”
* Note #1 - 19/Nov/2022 *
I noticed 3 errors in this pattern - x1 grammatical, x1 miscalculation, and x1 miswrite. The miscalculation and miswrite do affect the rest of the single crochet count and the end stitch count by 2 - they both can be found in the second set of R1 - R5, along with the grammatical error. The notes for each row are listed below each row, along with my math and quick notes. I did have Chris double check my math along the way and he agreed with me as well. I will be doing the second side, using both the pattern and my notes to double check my work. When Chris comes in from hunting, I'll have him double check my second side.
* Note #2 - 19/Nov/2022 *
Second side is complete, and I did have to use my notes for reference. Chris double checked my work and found no error.
* Note #3 - 21/Nov/2022 *
First time doing embroidery on crochet - I love it!
TREE
R1 - R7: DONE - no errors in pattern
** information break **
R1 has a miscount in the end stitch count which shifted the rest of the end stitch counts to be off by 2 stitches.
In both R1 and R2, it says to ”inc - sc in the next 5 - inc”, but R2 should be ”sc in the next 7” and causes a miscount in the rest of the pattern.
R1 = x5 sc (correct) - 9 sc (miscount by 2)
R2 = x7 sc (written as 5 sc) - 11 sc (above)
R3 = x9 sc (above) - 13 sc (above)
R4 = x11 sc (above) - 15 sc (above)
R5 = x13 sc (above) - 17 sc (above)
R1: (1) Slst in first 3 stitches, work 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, 2sc in next st. Leave the last 3 stitches unworked. Ch1 and turn (7SC, 3slst--10 st)
- the end stitch count is off by 2: 2+5+2 = 9 sc total / 3 slst + 9 sc + sk 3 = 12 sts and skip 3
- (7SC, 3slst--10 st) should be (9SC, 3slst--12 st)
R2: (2) 2sc in first st, scnext5, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn (9sc)
- grammatical error ” scnext5 ” - needs spaces
- both R1 and R2 say ” 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches, 2sc in next st ” but this row should be ”sc in next 7 stitches” to make the last ”2sc in last st”
- stitch count should be: 11 sc
R3: (3) 2sc in first st, sc in next 7, 2 sc in last st. Ch1, turn (11sc)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 9
- stitch count should be: 13 sc
R4: (4) 2sc in first st, sc in next 9, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn (13sc)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 11
- stitch count should be: 15 sc
R5: ** (5) 2sc in first st, sc in next 11 st, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn (15SC)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 13
- stitch count should be: 17 sc
** information break **
17 (last row) - 8 (4 slst) = 9 (total workable stitches)
9 - 2 (start/end inc) = 7 single crochets
R1 = x7 sc (written as 5 sc) - 11 sc (to match)
R2 = x9 sc (above) - 13 sc (above)
R3 = x11 sc (above) - 15 sc (above)
R4 = x13 sc (above) - 17 sc (above)
R5 = x15 sc (above) - 19 sc (above)
R1: (1) Slst in first 4 st, 2sc in next stitch, sc in next 5st, 2 sc in next st. (leave last 4 stitches unworked.) Ch1, turn (9sc, 4slst--13st)
- I had to do 7 sc to make the last 5 sts the 'inc - sk 4'
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 7
- stitch count should be: 4 slst - 11 sc - sk 4
R2: (2) 2sc in first st, sc in next 7 st, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn. (11SC)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 9
- stitch count should be: 13 sc
R3: (3) 2sc in first st, sc in next 9st, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn (13SC)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 11
- stitch count should be: 15 sc
R4: (4) 2sc in first st, sc in next 11st, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn (15SC)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 13
- stitch count should be: 17 sc
R5: (5) 2sc in first st, sc in next 13st, 2sc in last st. Ch1, turn (17SC)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 15
- stitch count should be: 19 sc

TRUNK
19 (last row) - 10 (start/end slst) = 9 (total workable stitches)
R1: (1) slst in first 5st, sc in next 7 st, leave last 5 stitches unworked. Ch1, turn (5slst, 7SC--12st)
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 9
- stitch count should be: 5 slst - 9 sc - sk 5 (14 sts)
R2 - R5: SC next 7 st. Ch1, turn.
- ”sc in the next #” should be: 9
- stitch count should be: 9 sc
CAKE CENTER/FROSTING/SPRINKLES
- CAKE CENTER: I ran out of the yarn I was using for the tree, and the same Red Heart #4 White I had was more cream than white. I didn't like the way the slip stitch looked with the two different whites, so I used the mending whip stitch to put it together. Now you can't tell it's two different whites.
- FROSTING: I used the embroidery chain stitch for the red frosting.
- SPRINKLES: I used the embroidery back stitch for the green sprinkles.
I love this pattern! It's a very easy pattern for those starting out with amigurumi, it's super quick to make, and everyone who sees it will want one. I did eat 2 Little Debbie Trees in the spirit of this Little Debbie Tree, so I recommend keeping that tradition alive!
