Description
I came up with this pattern when I was asked to make some big octopi for a yarn bombing!
I absolutely loved making Steve (blue) and Bruce (green)! I think they turned out awesome! Steve still hangs out on top of my blanket box and I have recently made him a girlfriend – Blossom (pink)
I made my octopi with a cool colour changing method known as marling - I held two strands of double knit yarn together, every few rows I change the colour making sure to alternate the strands! by holding 2 DK strands together it makes a chunky weight yarn - these octopi could be made even bigger if you used an even thicker yarn!!
They are made in pieces, the head first, then the legs are made in pairs and stitched on, before making the arm flaps and finally the eyes!
