Description
Osiyo ( pronounced oh-see-yo), that is the Cherokee word for Hello. Yes, I am Native American Cherokee. No, I do not live on a reservation. I live in town in Texas. With Thanksgiving approaching I wanted to do a set of something to celebrate that first Thanksgiving. It was a shared meal and a time of thankfulness. The indians and the pilgrims were at peace. They all helped each other and learned from each other. They were friends. (I know, not quite what we were taught in school or what we see on the television, but it is true.).
I would like to introduce you to Leotie. A pretty little Cherokee maiden. Her name means Prairie Flower. I named her after my granddaughter. Tried to capture the beauty and eloquence of my 12 year old spunky, full of life and love, precocious Leotie. So for you my dear, here is Leotie.
Elisi gvgeyuso'i (grandma loves you). Pronounced (Eh-lee-see)(Guh-gay-you-ee)
Just a note here, the Cherokee word for love has a much much deeper meaning than in English. In our native tongue, it shows our willingness to sacrifice our own comfort or even our life for the other person. We, culturally speaking, stress showing love through action, sacrifice, and care.
You are always able to sell your finished projects. But please be respectful of the amount of time and energy that goes into creating a pattern like this one. I respectfully request that you don't sell, copy, or claim this pattern as your own design.
