Description
Happy Birthday to everyone who has a March birthday!!!!

Aquamarine is the birthstone for March. Jewelers say that aquamarine is a symbol of honesty, loyalty, and beauty.

My oldest son, Michael, has a birthday in March. When he was three he found a teddy bear that I had in the top of my closet. This bear had been given to me by my first boyfriend when I was 16 years old. I never had the heart to just get rid of it. So for about 7 years it just sat in the top of my closet. Well, this one day while I was hanging clothes up in my closet Michael saw the bear. Michael was three. He wanted mom's bear. Oh, being a good mom, I gave my son the teddy bear. That teddy bear became his best friend his trusted companion, and the faithful person to keep his secrets. My son is 33 now, and this bear still has a place on his bed. He named the bear Mr. Snuggleupagus.

During the course of my son's growing up Mr snuggleupagus needed many repairs. Sometimes it was a simple resew a seam, other times I had to sew a patch over a thread bare area. And one time I had to make an eye patch because his eye just fell off and I could not put it back on. No matter how old, how worn, Mr. Snuggleupagus is now, he still has a special place on my son's bed and in his heart forever more.

This pattern for Patches the Bear is to commemorate that special bond between a boy and his bear. I hope you enjoy making Patches as much as I did.
