Description
It's not just a colourful snake, it's a temperature snake! A snake where every round of colour corresponds to the highest temperature in the area that day. Throughout the year you can see how the temperature changed by watching the colour change.

The idea to make this originated from my always wanting to make a temperature blanket but never having the time to do an entire row for a large blanket every day.

Perks of making a snake over a blanket:
- no ends to weave in at the end of each row! Just carry the yarn up the inside of the snake and tie them off when cut
- less yarn used
- great stash buster
- quicker to catch up on days if you are behind
- can use stripes (like my black and white ones) to distinguish between months
- very cute and fun to use to decorate the house or for kids to play with when finished!

This project can be started at the beginning of the year and continued day by day, or if you are making the snake in retrospect (or have fallen behind) you can do a whole lot at once!

I loved making this project, I loved choosing my colours at the start, I loved collecting the data on how hot the days were, and I loved watching it get longer and longer as we neared the end of the 2021.

It now sits on the back of my sofa and brightens up the living room!

If you can sc, change colours, increase, and decrease then you'll be able to make this snake! (All of which is very easy to learn to do via youtube!)

This pattern is packed FULL of handy tips to help with not only crocheting your snake but every part of the planning process too!

I would love to see your colour choices, WIPs and finished snakes, consider making a journal of your project!

(You can make this snake in colours not correlating to temperatures and make a normal snake using this pattern)

Materials
Yarns
1 ball of DK (8 ply) in each colour yarn used in your temperature range, as well as 1 each for your stripes in between months (I used black and white) and for the head if this is a diferent colour from the colours used in the body of your snake. (See planning stages for details on how to know how much you may need)
So overall I needed 10 balls of colour for the temperatures I used (but you can use less) plus the black and white for my other stripes. I didn‘t use all of the yarn for each colour.

Size G (4mm) or appropriate hook for your size yarn
