How to track lines in a crochet pattern

I always forget where I stopped. I need the exact line I've been working on - without having to recount.

Why line tracking is different

For years, I have tried everything - sticky notes, highlighters, screenshots and random phone annotations. Nothing really worked. That's why I prefer built-in line tracking like the one in Ribblr ePatterns.

Interactive method

With Ribblr ePatterns, the pattern and tracking tools live together. That makes it easier for me to come back after a break and land on the exact line, not just roughly in the right neighborhood. Then I can focus on the task at hand without the distraction of trying to remember where I left off.

Best first test

My favorite way to see the value fast is a beginner amigurumi or plushie pattern with repeated rounds. Those projects make it obvious when line tracking, repeat counts and saved progress are doing their job. On Ribblr, they also show why having the counter built into the pattern is more useful than managing everything separately. Just click on the word 'repeat' to open a stitch-counter or launch it through the settings.
