I ended up chaining 100 to wrap around twice (22”). I also modified the star to be smaller than the original, just because I thought it would be too big for the string. All I did was reduce the stitch height by one (Sc 10 in MR, slst to close, ([sc, hdc, ch 1, hdc, sc,], slst)-rep around to create the star tips. (Size: 1.5”) Excited to put it all together!
I didn‘t have to make any size modifications for this pocket, having modified the larger one. Sewing on the star took me a few tries, but I did it! I ended up leaving a long tail on the star and used that to sew it on, pinning it in place before I began sewing. Looks great! Measurements for the pocket are 3”x4.5” and the star is 2”.
The large pocket worked up great! I used the other button for it rather than making one out of yarn. In order to get it to fit like it should, I only did 19 rows of hdc rather than the 22. The pocket closure worked up fine without modifications. The measurement for the pocket ended up being 6”x4”. The pocket closure is 2”x4.5” (Medium weight yarn, 4.5mm hook)
The small pocket looks great! The only thing I have to mention is that I modified the button hole. It was a bit too large with the yarn I‘m using. Rather than 4 slst to create the slit, I did 2 sc. I am also using a cute set of wooden buttons rather than making them, but I did work one up and it would have worked just fine! The measurements were 1.75” x 3.75”.
Love this moon granny square! It worked up great. Following the pattern unmodified, it is a 4.5” x 4.5” square using medium weight yarn and a 4.5 mm hook. Looks like it will fit just fine with the larger case base.
Looking good so far! Here is a quick note on the base: -Without modification, I ended up with a rectangle that is 8.5” in width, and 12” in length. I‘m using medium, weight 4 yarn and the 4.5 mm hook, so I‘m not sure what‘s going on with that. However, I don‘t think it‘s going to cause any problems with the finished product. I also don‘t want to have to modify the sizes of the pockets, so I‘m just going to follow the pattern how it‘s written!
