Hi! My name is Toad :) I’m a physically disabled fiber artist who strives to make the world more accessible. Most of my patterns will be based around mobility aid decor and functional projects that can be used to make life with a disability a little easier.
After my first major health crash in 2021 and my celiac disease diagnosis in 2020, I realized how inaccessible activities can be. Everything is surrounded by physical activity or built for the able body. I felt as if my life was over, there was no one to tell me that my disability wouldn’t ruin my entire life. I’ve become dedicated to encouraging other disabled people to try new things and find activities they can do, there’s so many adaptations we can make to have fun. Decorating mobility aids is one way I do this, I like to think other people look at my aids and see a stylish individual, not just a disabled one. Making my disability part of my daily life and appearance has improved my quality of life significantly, and I hope other young disabled people are able to get out there and accommodate themselves proudly.
