Check BEFORE you buy
When a pattern is AI-generated there are some red flags you can spot before you buy. Keep reading to know what you need to be on the lookout for.
Review the images
I zoom in on photos. Fake or AI images often have inconsistent stitch texture or look too perfect. Think weird edges or details that don't match the description. Distorted hands or hooks can be a clue too, by the way. Especially if the whole set of photos feel too 'perfect'. Also, look for tester photos and journals/makes.
Review pattern basics
Here's a quick checklist I use:
- Materials and hook size should be specific.
- Gauge or finished size should be indicated.
- Tester makes, reviews or tester photos/gallery should be present or at least give you confidence.
Look at the designer's shop
The designer should have a shop linked with real photos, clear pattern details, and a history of patterns with makes or reviews. If the shop is new or has only one pattern that looks suspicious then you should be extra careful before you buy.
How Ribblr handles AI patterns
First of all - Ribblr does not allow AI-generated patterns or AI cover photos per the Content Guidelines. Whilst you want to make sure you're not accusing people, you still need to be cautious. So when in doubt look for the things listed above. If you are still unsure report the pattern to Ribblr's support team and wait to hear back. They will investigate quickly and let you know if it is or is not AI. If it is - the pattern will be taken down.
