Maple
Falling for Fall September Monthly Challenge
Meet Maple!
Deep within the oldest part of the forest, where the trees turn gold before anywhere else, there lived a tiny guardian named Maple.
She was not a guardian of grand castles or ancient treasures. Her kingdom was much smaller. She watched over the little things. The mushrooms that appeared after the first rain. The acorns hidden beneath fallen leaves. The berries that fed the birds before winter. The tiny creatures that needed one last warm place to sleep. And, most importantly, she watched over the Harvest Festival.
Every autumn, when the first amber leaf touched the forest ground, Maple would wake from her summer slumber. She would tighten her little boots, pick up her basket, wrap her scarf around her neck, and place the acorn hat to venture deep in the woods to collect the famous tiny pumpkins that no one usually finds.
She is warm and kinda strange, but she always hugs everyone in the forests and gives them berries and nuts she finds in the strangest places of the forest where most don‘t venture.
