Description
Demeter is the Greek goddess who settled in the countryside, studied the plants, their cycles, their behavior and decided to put order, structure and decide herself the most convenient times, yes friend, as you have surely deduced is the birth of agriculture. Being so associated with the earth makes many people confuse her with Gaia, her grandmother, the Great Mother, do not fall into that error.
Demeter's story is not a particularly happy one. Zeus got her pregnant, and then her other brother, Hades (who is also in the Gods of Olympus collection), saw his daughter and instantly fell in love. Taking his chariot drawn by four magnificent black steeds, he tore up the earth and took her with him to the underworld.
The despair and anguish of the goddess, who traveled the world without finding any trace of her daughter, unleashed her fury. She who is the less warlike goddess, froze the earth and left it barren for several harvests, until famine began to take its toll on men. Zeus finally had to intervene, sent Hermes to negotiate and got Persephone to spend six months with each of them.
The months she was with the goddess the fields flourished and the harvests were plentiful, but when she was left alone the cold came to the fields. Exactly! I see you have also guessed the cycle of the seasons.
If you are a farmer or do any activity related to the land, flowers, fruits or grain, Demeter is your goddess, she will help your crops to be abundant and your land always fertile.
But if what you like is to play with dolls, you know, Demeter must be in your ranks, someone who is able to control the cycles of the earth can keep your team in excellent shape.
