Try a cushion or a simple accessory
A cushion cover, cowl or scarf gives Poofy's texture a lot of space without asking a complicated stitch pattern to compete with it. Start with a bulky yarn crochet pattern that has clear dimensions and a straightforward stitch repeat. For anything worn against skin, make a small sample first so you know how the fabric feels.
For a toy, check the stitches
A plush yarn can make a toy look wonderfully soft, but the fabric still needs to hold its stuffing. I would check the pattern's hook size, make a few rounds and stretch the sample gently. If the gaps show, a smaller hook or another pattern may work better. Keep in mind that changing yarn or hook size can change the toy's finished size.
Let the texture be the feature
Poofy can hide tiny stitch details, so I would save intricate cables or lace for a yarn that shows them clearly. Simple shapes, broad stripes and large color blocks give the texture a chance to do the work. If a pattern calls for a smooth bulky yarn, swatch before substituting: the same weight does not guarantee the same drape or gauge.
Check the amount before you start
Compare the pattern's required length with the length of the Poofy ball you choose in Ribblr materials. Bulky yarns can vary a lot in length per ball. The ball count guide shows how to turn a pattern's yardage into a shopping list.
