Description
Banana Daiquiri uses a modular technique to create a super cute purse cleverly formed from triangles knitted off each each other to form a hexagon. A triangular foldover flap, an i-cord button, and a gusset that does double duty as a strap add practicality. The textures really play off the directional knitting, and the hexagon shape of this purse looks great in a variety of yarn weights and textures.
There are so many ways to put your personal stamp on this handbag. I love the clean lines of a tape yarn as pictured, but I've also made this purse in a knobbly yarn and I was very happy with the results. I even knitted one up in wool and then felted it! Raid your stash! Use a hand-dyed or self-striping yarn if you don't want to fuss with color changes. If you prefer a crossbody bag, simple add extra rows to the gusset (don't forget to make sure you have enough yarn). Gauge is not critical here; just make sure you go down a needle size or two so your fabric is nice and firm, especially if you don't want to line it.
