Some patterns begin with a stitch. This one began with an idea of making braids. Cozy, old-school, and the kind of small detail that completely changes how a project feels.

I wanted to see what would happen if long crochet loops were treated like strands of ribbon, woven together after the fabric was finished instead of during the crochet itself. The result looked a little like friendship bracelets, a little like candy-colored hair braids, and exactly like the sort of book cover that refuses to blend into a shelf. The ribbed spine keeps everything structured while the woven panels do all the showing off.

It is playful without being fussy, bright without being loud, and surprisingly satisfying once the weaving begins. Watching the loose loops turn into neat rows of braids feels a bit like finishing the last step of a puzzle.
