Description
This is a free pattern for a colourwork cowl in crochet which incorporates the waistcoat stitch aka csc and you will be working with up to 3 yarn strands at the same time. The main motif is the so called Jackass Penguin which lives in South Africa. There is also an abstract decorative pattern to round it all up. You'll need fingering weight yarn in at least 3 colours.
Please note: It is essential for the csc/waistcoat stitch to keep a loose tension and NOT to pull at the inactive strand of yarn. Insert your hook with the tip of the nose first (not the tip of the head) and pull the right strand of the stitch slightly to the right before pushing through. It also helps to keep your colours in separate yarn bowls to make yarn management easier. Colourwork crochet cannot be stretched by blocking.
