Description
ABOUT THE DESIGN:
The Celtic Braid Scarf is a sophisticated, highly textured accessory. The main body is worked in a squishy, reversible Brioche stitch, offering ultimate warmth and a beautiful, cozy feel.
The construction begins with a flawless, seamless Turkish cast-on, allowing the design to flow smoothly from the very first row. The edges feature a true structural wonder: the flat bands of the main Celtic Braid Cable pattern split and transform into 8 individual, volumetric tubular bands. When interwoven to recreate the exact braiding rhythm of the Celtic Braid Cable pattern, they form a stunning 3D volume, making the scarf completely reversible and exceptionally plush on both sides.
Pair it with the matching Celtic Braid Headband to create a stunning, cozy winter set.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
MATERIALS & YARN:
Yarn: Designed for Medium / Worsted (4) weight yarn (approx. 9 wpi).
Original Yarn Used: Lang Yarns Magnolia (85% Virgin Wool Merino Extrafine Superwash, 15% Nylon; 273 yds / 250 m per 100 g skein). Sample shown in color: 0006.
Total Amount Required: Approx. 120 g / 4.2 oz (approx. 300 m / 328 yds), including tassels.
Skeins Needed: 2 skeins.
Yarn Notes &Substitution:
For this design, I chose Lang Yarns Magnolia because it is incredibly soft, plush, and completely non-irritating to the skin, which is essential for close-fitting accessories like a headband and a scarf. It provides wonderful winter warmth and beautifully highlights the volumetric texture of the Celtic braid.
This pattern uses a chainette-construction yarn, which creates a lightweight yet plump fabric. If substituting, look for a Worsted weight yarn with similar yardage (approx.250 m / 273 yds per 100 g). Merino wool blends or soft wool chains will work best to achieve the same texture, volume, and stretch.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PATTERN:
1) Written row-by-row instructions in English
2) Close-up video tutorials for key transitions and techniques. The videos are voice-free with short, clear English captions to guide you through.
3) Clear stitch chart
4) Illustrated Construction Scheme with step-by-step layout
