Well here is the perfect solution - Chair Socks!
Very easy and quick to make, and can help use up your scrap yarn.

I have included a pattern for a 3cm wide foot base, and a 4cm wide foot base, which should hopefully cover most dining chair leg sizes.
I would recommend a slightly thicker yarn, such as chunky weight, so they survive the wear and tear of frequent use.
Stitch requirements:
Magic ring
Single crochet
Half double crochet
Double crochet
Chain
Slip stitch
Back loop only
