Count down the days to Christmas with this fun take on the traditional advent calendar. Make one decoration for each day and hang to a button on the tree. This tree has some sneaky storage for your decorations or your favourite chocolates.

This is an intermediate level pattern, some crochet knowledge of basic stitches is required. Not recommended for complete beginners, but the pattern does include step by step instructions and pictures to help you.

Using the materials suggested this tree measures 30cm tall. Any size 5 (chunky) chenille yarn and size 3 (DK) yarn can be used with this pattern with an appropriate size crochet hook to create a tight tension, although other yarns may affect the size of the finished tree. Suggested materials: King Cole Yummy (Bulky 5), 100% polyester and King Cole Cottonsoft DK (Light 3) 100% cotton yarn, 6mm & 2.75mm crochet hook, 5mm sew on eyes (optional), buttons, plastic canvas and toy stuffing.
