About
This pattern came to exist due to my son learning about knights and castles
at school. So of course, I had to make something for class for him.
This is not designed to be a toy, especially due to the metal pole required
to keep the blade from collapsing.
Fun facts about the Claymore:
The word ‘claymore’ comes from the Scottish Gaelic claidheam-hmor,
meaning ‘great sword’.
The weapon itself is a two-handed double edged sword used in the
Highlands of Scotland and by Scottish mercenaries in Ireland between the
early sixteenth and the seventeenth centuries
Dimensions: A typical claymore had a blade length of around 42 inches
(107 cm) and a total length of about 55 inches (140 cm).
Weight: The sword weighed approximately 5.5 pounds (2.5 kg).
Grip: The claymore had a grip of around 13 inches (33 cm).
