Description
Breezy and fresh, this pattern is easy to make if you have a good working knowledge of the basic stitches. It consists mainly of a two row repeat. The number of stitches per round is built up very quickly to give it the ruffled flowing look. It is this that makes it possible to continue on past the length of the piece modelled in the pictures. You could even stop short and make the pattern work for a smaller person.

NOTE: for the piece in the pictures, I worked the White yarn with the same colour lace yarn as the rest of the garment. If you wanted to create a stripe of a solid colour, you will have to add 1 ball of lace weight yarn in the same colour as the sport yarn that you have chosen for your stripe. Or as I did on the model in the picture continue using the same colour lace weight yarn. This gives a continuity and mutes the colour change (if you want something a little more subtle). Continuing to work with 2 yarns (however you mix and match the colours) is important because you need to keep up the weight of the two yarns worked together, or the stripe will have a very different feel to it. This will add even more to the yarn left over at the end of the garment. This step is marked in the pattern and is entirely optional. Optional 1 X US Sport UK/NZ/AU 5ply 12-14 Wraps per inch in a solid colour, to create a stripe, as seen in the pictures. (The white row towards the bottom edge of the garment.) This is totally optional, and does add to the cost of the piece and the yarn leftover at the end.

I have given the total yardage used in the pattern so that you have the ability to make with any brand of yarn.

You will need 2 and a half metres of ribbon to complete the neck.

Stitch markers will be useful to you.

Measurements of the garment in the pictures:
Neck aperture (across):
12 inches 30.5 centimetres
Wrist to wrist:
62 inches 157.5 centimetres
Neck to waist:
25 inches 63.5 centimetres
