Description
Bring a little piece of autumn to your crochet hook!
This sweet little chestnut is a quick and fun project that can be finished in about an hour. The chestnut itself takes only around 10 minutes to crochet, making it a perfect quick project even when you need something small and fast to make for a craft market.
The finished chestnut is approximately 7 cm (2.8 in), depending on your yarn and tension. With the removable shell, the whole piece is approximately 10 cm (4 in)
And the shell isn't just for decoration! It makes the chestnut an interactive little toy you can take the chestnut out of its shell and put it back in again. It can also make a cute keychain or bag charm.
The chestnut itself is definitely beginner-friendly. The shell is also suitable for beginners who don't mind trying a little picot stitch. If you're new to crochet, this is a lovely small project to practice it!
What you'll need
- Yarn in 3 colours leftovers are more than enough; you'll need a little more of the green yarn
- 5 mm crochet hook, or the size you prefer for yarn approximately 100 g / 120 m
- 8 mm black safety eyes
- A small amount of stuffing
- A small amount of thin black yarn for the smile
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
No complicated techniques or large amounts of yarn needed just a few small pieces and you're ready to make your own little chestnut!
