The pattern uses single crochet throughout and involves more advanced techniques like changing colors and following colorwork charts. It also has instructions on attaching dowels and how to wet/steam block the piece if you want to hang it as a wall tapestry.

The pattern includes right-handed (labeled RH) and left-handed (labeled LH) versions of the chart and instructions!
