The pattern is knit with Moss stitch around the face, and simple stockinette knitting. Moss stitch is simply one stitch knit, one stitch purl - so easy. You need to be able to knit, purl and decrease.
Knit on slightly bigger needles, to make it light and stretchy, and quick to make.
