This sweet little hippo was created as a custom request for a friend. I just loved how it turned out I had to write up a pattern for it. It's not a difficult pattern but a few parts might be suitable for an advanced beginner to intermediate crocheter. You'll need to know how to single crochet, increase and decrease and do some sewing. I've written the pattern using an invisible decrease but if you are not comfortable with it, a standard decrease works just fine. There is also a special stitch that I include a tutorial for.
