Description
This adorable gingerbread lovey would make a unique, one-of-a-kind first Christmas gift. It would make an excellent baby shower gift. It will be the most oohed and awed gift at the shower.
This gingerbread lovey/security blanket is fun, easy, and quick to make! It is a great pattern for beginners or advanced beginners as it has basic stitches with simple color changes.
This pattern can be made in a half a day to a day! This would make a great addition to craft fair inventory if you are a product seller.
Layout:
All of my patterns feature the same consistent layout which is easy to read and understand in US American terms. It is easy to find all the information you need to make this project. It lists materials, gauge, size, pattern key, any special stitches, notes, and then the pattern instructions and assembly. The pattern includes photo tutorials throughout the pattern.

When you are finished, your gingerbread security blanket should measure approximately 15" x 14 1/2" x 4 1/2".
Materials Needed:
Worsted weight yarn
HOOK: J/10 6.0 mm; G/6 4.0 mm
Polyfil
Yarn needle to weave in ends
Stitch markers
Scissors
Safety eyes - optional
Pattern Key:
SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
Ch - chain
Sc2tog - single crochet decrease
V-Stitch - (DC, Ch 2, DC) all in the same stitch/space.
Sl st - slip stitch
FO - Finish off
St(s) - stitch/stitches
Rnd(s) - Round/rounds
MC - Magic Circle
Shell St - 5 DC in the same stitch.
Sk st - skip stitch
Notes:
Read through the entire pattern first.
Color A = Brown
Color B = Antique White
Color C = Red
The head and arms are worked in continuous rounds. Do not join while making the head. Use stitch markers to know where your first stitch in the round is.
Blanket part is worked in joined rounds.
Beginning ch 3 does count as your first double crochet in each round of the blanket part.
Sl st does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
Alternative to MC - Ch 2; x SC in the 2nd chain from the hook.
Repeat stitches between * and *.
Blanket colors: Rnds 1-5 are brown, Rnd 6 Antique White, Rnd 7 Brown Rnd 8:
Antique White, Rnd 9 is brown, Rnd 10 is White, and Rnds 11-12 are Red.
