Description
Super easy to knit up, this bag can zip into a pocket in your backpack, but it expands to hold all your gear. It's all garter stitch, so it's easy enough for a beginner. The secret to its stretchiness, you ask? The garter stitch is worked with 2 different sizes of needles, alternating size 4 and size 13, which gives the bag structure from the garter ridge and openness of the loops.
The bottom or base of the bag is knitted entirely in garter stitch using the smaller needle size only for sturdiness. The top of the bag is edged in regular garter stitch, with stitches placed on stitch holders to be knit up in i-cord for handles.
You can knit this flat from the bottom up and seam up the side to finish or in the round from the top down, Instructions for both methods are included in the pattern.
Make one for your favorite student-athlete to stash uniform or misc. gear in a kit-bag, or gift one to your favorite teacher to hold supplies.
