This hat almost did not happen.
I originally set out to create a different motif bucket hat. But after endless attempts at making it work seamlessly in the round without floating yarn or compromising fit, i was ready to give up.
I thought about how my daughter lights up when she is out and about saying hi to everyone she comes across and how it makes her day and their day. That is when this pattern was born, combining my love for inset mosaic crochet with something that felt personal and joyful.
The result is a bucket hat that is genuinely fun to make.

Designed and tested by me from first swatch to finished hat.
Standard adult sizing that also fits older kids and teens.

What you will need:
Lion brand 24/7 cotton yarn in two colors (one skein of each)
Scissors
Tapestry needle
4 Stitch markers
5mm Hook (H)

Skill level: Advanced beginner to intermediate - if you know basic single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch, threading in yarns, skipping stitches, and follow a chart to help you with the written instructions plus having lots of images, then you are ready.

Time to complete is 3-5 hours depending on your speed.
