Thank you so much for choosing to make my hipster hamster! This was my very first pattern to actually have tested and published for sale so it's so special to me! I created this pattern because my daughter experienced a series of unfortunate outcomes with her hamsters and I wanted to bring her a little joy.

This pattern requires very little sewing! The body and head is worked from the bottom up all in one piece. The ears are made separately and sewn on. We will work in the round except where indicated in the pattern. Size depends on the yarn, hook, and tension of your stitches. My hamsters end up being around 3.5 (worsted weight, 4 mm), 6.5 (bulky, 5 mm), and 9 (super bulky, 8 mm) inches tall. The pattern is written for premier parfait chunky (super bulky but more like a bulky weight in my opinion), but it works well in thinner yarns, and adjustments are included for bulkier yarn weights.

There are 2 variations of the hamster pattern. One with the simpler color change (body and cheeks all one color) and one with color changes to make a different colored belly (body & head same color, belly, bottom & cheeks in another color).
