Description

Freshen up your wardrobe in time for summer by making your own sustainable sun hat. This bucket style hat has a small sunflower in the centre of the crown, a jasmine pattern around the body and a wide brim to hide away from the sun.

Sizes: 0-3mth (6-12mth, Toddler, Child, Teen, S Adult, L Adult)

Use any DK weight yarn you like that meets the gauge. I used 100% hemp and also made one in Raffia. See the materials section for other yarn suggestions.

This hat is ideal for the beach, lounging in the sun in the garden or just going for a walk in the summer months.

Materials

Yarns

I used 100% hemp yarn in DK weight. You will need roughly 72 (100, 140, 175, 200, 230, 285) grams / 65 (82, 115, 165, 190, 235, 315) meters.

You could also use Hoooked Wavy Blends

OR Wool and the Gang Ra-Ra Raffia.
Raffia is slightly thinner than DK so the pattern may need adjusting slightly if you use this.

Needles

Darning needle to weave in then ends

Scissors to cut the ends.
Stitch marker to keep track of the last stitch in each round.
