Description
"Kimihia te kahurangi; ki te piko toou maatenga, ki te maunga teitei". Seek above all that which is of highest value; if you bow, let it be to the highest mountain.
The inspiration for this piece was an emerald, a highly valued gemstone, as reflected through the sharp geometric lines of the lace pattern. The proverb teaches one to choose a high goal and not to be deterred by anything of lesser importance. As Mystics who knit as a form of self-care, I believe that one of the best ways of self-care is acknowledging one's self-worth and value.
We often are too scared to dream big - as in really dream big - because since childhood society taught us that we are not enough to even dare entertain the thought.
But we are far more precious than emeralds and other gemstones. And we are enough. As you knit this cowl, meditate during the garter stitch sections on all the ways you are worthy, and see how you are precious as a gemstone as you work the intricate lace section. Allow yourself to dream - if you could do anything, what would you do?

Materials
Yarns
300 - 350 yd./275 - 320 m of Fingering/4-ply yarn.
*Yak yarn is extremely soft and has a lot of drape, meaning that it will not sit stiffly against the neck. If you wish to use a yarn with more hold and structure, use a merino or other sheep-based fibre.
I used Mon Sheep Shop Haute Joaillerie (Silk 50%, Yak 50%; 200 m/50 g). 2 skeins in Emerald.
