Description
Zig Zag Knitted Blanket.

Suitable for beginners, only knowledge of knit and purl stitches needed.

To create a custom sized blanket:

o The width of the blanket can be adjusted by increasing/ reducing the number of stitches cast on, ensure the number of stitches cast on is a multiple of 8. Follow all other steps as normal.
o Once you reach the desired length, knit every stitch of the last 4 rows, and cast off.

The blanket photographed is a Twin sized blanket.

Depending on yarn used and gauge, the size of the blanket can vary. Cast on stitches and recommended rows are approximates to size only but can be easily adjusted to fit the blanket size required (see above custom sized blanket notes)

It is recommended to create a gauge swatch and adjust yarn/ needle size as needed.

Each 10 row repeat of the zig-zag pattern should measure approximately 2.5 inches.

Every 8 stitches should measure 2.75 inches.

The blanket is worked on circular needled to hold the weight but is worked flat in rows.

This pattern uses two strands of Aran weight yarn knit together throughout. This can be changed to a single strand of chunky yarn if preferred but remember to gauge swatch!

For this project I used Women's Institute Soft and Smooth in cream.

The yardage of yarn required will be dependent on the size of blanket made.

Approximate quantities listed below:

o King: 4,250 meters/ 4,650 yards
o Double: 4,000 meters/ 4,375 yarns
o Twin: 3,500 metres/ 3,830 yards
o Throw: 2,500 meters/ 2,750 yards
o Lapghan: 2,000 metres/ 2,200 yards
