Description
Whos ready for Spring? I know I am! I love spring and I enjoy having different projects for different seasons.
Meet Kylie the Spring Bear. She is a fun, easy, and quick crochet project to work up. She has two different appliques for her dress - Easter Eggs or you can make a flower to put on her. Instructions for both as well as photo tutorials are in this PDF pattern.
Kylie the Spring Teddy would make an excellent birthday or baby shower gift as well as a gift to give anytime.
Special note: If you are giving this cute mermaid to a child under 3, please embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes for safety reasons.
Layout:
All of my patterns feature the same consistent layout which is easy to read and understand in US American terms. It is easy to find all the information you need to make this project. It lists materials, gauge, size, pattern key, any special stitches, notes, and then the pattern instructions and assembly.
Experience Level: Intermediate
Size:
When you are finished, your cute spring bear should measure approximately 12.5" x 9" x 4.5".
Pattern Key:
SC - Single Crochet
Sc2tog - Single Crochet Decrease
Sl st - Slip Stitch
FO - Finish Off
St/sts - Stitch/Stitches
Ch - Chain
Rnd(s) - Round(s)
MC - Magic Circle
Sk st - Skip Stitch
Shell - Shell Stitch
DC - Double Crochet
DC3TOG - 3 DC decrease
Special Stitches:
Shell - Work 5 DC in the same stitch.
DC3TOG - Yarn over; insert hook into the next st; yarn over and pull through (3 loops on your hook); yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on your hook); yarn over and insert hook into the next st; yarn over and pull through (4 loops on your hook); yarn over and pull through 2 loops (3 loops on your hook); yarn over and insert hook into the next st; yarn over and pull through (5 loops on your hook); yarn over and pull through 2 loops (4 loops on your hook); yarn over and pull through all the loops.
Notes:
Read through the entire pattern first.
All parts are done in continuous rounds except for Dress and Easter Egg Appliques and Flower Applique. DO NOT join while while making the Head, Body, Arms, Legs, Ears, Muzzle, and Nose. Use stitch markers to know where your first stitch in the round is.
Sl st does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
Ch 1 on the joined rounds of the dress does not count as a stitch. The first stitch goes into the same stitch as the Ch 1 does.
Ch 3 counts as a stitch where indicated.
Repeat stitches between * and *.
Alternative to MC - Ch 2; work number of SC specified in the 2nd chain from the hook.
I gave two options for the Applique. You can choose the flower or the Easter Eggs to add to the dress.
