6 weight or less is best!
You can use the same yarn for the noses although I used yellow worsted weight for the kitty nose.

Black mercerized cotton yarn works great for whiskers and the bear mouth.

Hooks

5.5 mm or less. Use the size hook that is comfortable for you for tight stitches. You will use the same hook throughout the project.
