The pattern comes with instructions for 2 different sizes. The scarf is worked from the bottom-up meaning that you'll start at the tip and make each row progressively wider until the scarf has reached your desired size. This method of construction allows you to make your scarf as large (or as small) as you'd like and lets you try it on as you go! After the main portion of the scarf is made, you'll add a border to give the scarf a finished and polished look. This pattern also includes a table that tells you how many stitches you should have per row so that you can check as you work up your scarf.
