Did you know that shark eggs are sometimes called "mermaid pouches"?
Back before science discovered that these weird egg pouches is how a lot of sharks reproduce, it was thought that mermaids made them to carry whatever mermaids were thought to need to carry.
There are 2 basic shapes: screw and flat, and I've put in a pattern for one somewhat basic version of the screw style in this listing (because the flat style is giving me fits. I'll be updating this with the flat style as a pattern update once I stop fighting with it.)
The difficulty level is intermediate only because there's some advanced-ish techniques to get the spiral of the screw attached to the egg body itself. The stitches themselves aren't complicated and the only stitches used are chain, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.
Easy peasy.
