Elephants are the largest land animals on earth, their weight can vary a lot depending on the species and sex of the individual. Elephants weigh between 2.5-7 tons! There are 3 species of elephant, the African savannah elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. All Elephants are endangered, with the African forest elephant being critically endangered with fewer than 150,000 in the wild. African forest elephants are classified as "critically endangered" due to their sharp population decline, even though they currently have a larger population than Asian elephants. Africa savannah elephant populations are estimated to be around 415,000 left in the wild, and Asian elephants having around 50,000. There are large conservation efforts in place to improve elephant populations worldwide.
