Description
The Gazelle is a type of antelope native to Africa and Asia. There are many species of gazelle. This pattern depicts a Thomson's Gazelle. The Thomson's Gazelle is names after explorer Joseph Thomson. Thomson's gazelles are the most common kind of gazelle in eastern Africa, with their populations being numbered in excess of 200,000.

Gazelles are very important to the ecosystem of Africa and Asia. They serve as a food source by many African predators, including (but not limited to) lions, cheetah, hyena, crocodiles, and even pythons! The Gazelle can run very fast (50 mph) and can usually ourtrun most predators, leaving cheetah as their biggest threat.

Gazelles graze on the grasses and foliage of the African grasslands. During the dry season, gazelles routinely migrate along with many other African herd species, to find food.
