Description
What is an Okapi? (pronounce OW-KAA-PEE) An okapi is a shy relative of the giraffe. Native to the Ituri rainforest in the Congo, in central Africa. Okapi are endangered with only an estimated 10,000-30,000 left due to loss of habitat.
The Okapi is the national symbol of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Okapi tounges can be 12-18 inches long, that is long enough for them to lick their own ears! They use their toungs to foarge leaves, and for grooming themselves.
Pattern difficulty: intermediate. There are many color changes.
