This mushroom square can be used in blankets, clothing, and more!
You do need to know how to crochet with beads though. If you don't know how to do that then I highly suggest learning it if you want to successfully do this pattern.
Feel free to use whatever yarn and beads you like, but know that some beads won't fit on certain yarns so be careful on what you choose.
Other then those things, I don't think you need anything super special for this pattern.
