Description
Use this wrap to hold your glasses! The wristlet makes it easy to loop onto any bag strap!
This is a great gift & market item! These cost me less than $2 each and it takes less than hour to create!
The mushroom top works up to be 6"-8" diameter when laid flat; the wristlet strap is about 5.5" long when looped (folded in half).
PDF Printable Pattern available with size 14 & size 16 text.
This pattern has over 20 project assist pictures and more than 20 video tutorials.
(8 videos are project-specific that I made; the remainder are Ribblr auto-generated)
Once upon a time, I purchased a nice pair of expensive sunglasses. I was terrible at remembering the protective carrying case for them because it was bulky and took up too much room in my bags. On the rare occasion that I remembered to bring the protective case, it was always a hassle to find it and I usually gave up in the process. I'd end up resorting to hanging my glasses on the edge of the bag, where they were left exposed and vulnerable to damage. Oh boy, did they get damaged.
I decided to create a funky mushroom glasses protector that could solve my problems.
The wristlet wrap needed 3 things.
1 - Soft materials that will be gentle on the glasses, but sturdy enough to protect them.
2 - Made to loop onto a bag so it's convenient.
3 - Needs to be easy to use by adding a loop (or clasp) to keep it closed so the glasses are secured.
If you really wanted to get fancy, you could line it with a microfiber glasses cloth, but I don't have the patience for that. Soft yarn works well enough for me, and it's a great improvement from having nakey unprotected glasses.
I made the wristlet strap with Tunisian Crochet because I love how sturdy it makes the yarn. I also really want more Tunisian crochet fiber friends. So please, try the technique. Please fall in love with Tunisian crochet too. Let's make Tunisian crochet the new cool thing to do. <3
This pattern is made up with a metal ring and some magnet clasps, although they aren't required to make this design. The hardware does make for a more finished look. If you plan to sell these at markets, then I highly recommend the upgrade.
A small chain circle can be made to place the wristlet stitches into, instead of a metal ring. As for the clasp, this can be replaced with a loop and button as outlined in the pattern.
