Description
Description
Mutig is a simple striped triangular shawl that is increased on one side and primarily uses knit stitches and yarn over/decrease combinations. Sections of bold garter stitch stripes and eyelet rows are repeated in different sequences for eye catching pops of color and texture.
Two yarn colorways are used. I chose two that have a strong contrast but possess a common shade that allow them to blend together. If you would like to have less contrast you may choose two yarns that are closer in color, or for a higher contrast, solid yarns or colorways with greater differences can be used.
This pattern is written in sections. The first section combines a one color garter row repeat with one that is mixed between two colors or stripes. The second is an eyelet section that is knit in one color and combines yarn overs and double yarn overs with decreases to create the eyelets. These two sections are repeated in different sequences and the rows are gradually increased in each section until the final section. The final is a combination of mixed garter rows and eyelet rows.
During the garter row mix repeat and in the final combination section, you may find it helpful to carry the yarn up the side during your color switches rather than to break and restart each color. This will also help conserve yarn yardage and avoid weaving in more loose ends.
The gauge given is a guideline for this pattern. Different yarn weights or needle sizes may be used but note that the yarn yardage and final size will be different.
