Myrtle the Mossbud

Just a little addition to the Furfeather Forest.

Made with sage super bulky yarn, Myrtle is a literal ball of joy with tiny leaf wings that fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. She has a little mossy hairdo with a mini mushroom and a flower sprouting from it. She also comes with one tiny flower accessory made with size 4 acrylic yarn.

Myrtle's Story

Every morning, Myrtle wakes before the birds.

She stretches her tiny leaf wings, shakes the dew from her mossy hair, and checks to see if anything new has bloomed nearby. If she finds a flower that has fallen during the night, she gently tucks it into her hair until she discovers the perfect place to leave it.

Most creatures think Myrtle spends her days wandering without a plan.

The truth is, she has a very important job.

Whenever a bird loses a feather, a squirrel drops an acorn, a rabbit forgets where it buried a seed, or a child leaves behind a shiny marble, Myrtle quietly returns each treasure to where it belongs.

Not because anyone asked her to.

Because, in her little heart, the forest feels happiest when everything finds its way home.

Myrtle's Details

Species: Mossbud

Nickname: The Forest Gardener or "Moss Mole," although she isn't particularly fond of that one.

Age: Nobody knows. Mossbuds don't celebrate birthdays. They count springs.

Height: About the size of a pear.

Habitat: Moss-covered logs, hollow stumps, fern patches, and the quiet corners of Furfeather Forest where sunlight trickles through the canopy.

Diet: Morning dew, flower nectar, sweet berries, mushroom spores, and the occasional maple seed helicopter.

Favorite Snack: Dewdrops collected from spiderwebs.

Favorite Flower: Wood violets.

Favorite Season: Early spring, when everything wakes up.

Personality: Gentle, Curious, Shy, Patient, Thoughtful, Easily Startled, Secretly Brave

Special Ability:
Every place Myrtle naps becomes noticeably softer and greener by sunrise. Tiny flowers sometimes bloom where she dreams.

Leaf Wings:
Too small for flying, but they flutter whenever she's excited, embarrassed, or especially happy.

Greatest Fear:
Thunderstorms. She hides beneath giant mushrooms until they pass.

Hobby:
Collecting oddly shaped acorns, colorful pebbles, feathers, and tiny treasures that other forest creatures overlook.

Best Friend:
Butterflies... although they don't realize they're friends.

Favorite Thing to Do:
Quietly following larger forest creatures just to see what adventures they're having.

Strength:
She notices things everyone else misses.

Weakness:
She's so busy helping others that she sometimes forgets to take care of herself.

"Oh... this belongs somewhere."

Species Origin

Long before anyone can remember, the oldest trees in Furfeather Forest learned to dream.

Whenever one of those dreams settled beneath a blanket of moss and a forgotten acorn rested nearby, the forest quietly created a Mossbud.

No one has ever seen one hatch.

They simply appear one spring morning, already tucked beneath a tuft of moss, with sleepy little eyes peeking out from beneath leafy bangs.

Some Mossbuds wake with flowers growing from their moss. Others wear tiny mushrooms. Some even sprout little ferns.

No two are ever exactly alike.
