Description
The Nebelung Knit (like it’s grey and fluffy namesake) is a soft and cozy oversized knit with a light and airy gauge. Perfect for layering in the winter, the plunging deep V neck and split hem keep the look modern and easy to wear.
After knitting the hems flat, the body is worked in the round to the underarms, then the front and back is worked flat again. The sleeves are worked seamlessly in the round, then sewed in place at the armhole. Finally, the neckline is picked up and knitted in the round to finish off the project.
I used the Long Tail cast on technique because it gives a pretty and stable right side edge, and a simple K 1, P 1 bind off for the V neck, to maintain the pattern. If you prefer different methods you are welcome to substitute these for your favourite technique - the choice is yours!

Materials
Yarns
778 (891, 1012, 1137, 1269, 1459, 1575, 1736, 1906) metres of a Light Fingering weight yarn with a fluffy halo, with approx 25 wraps per inch, equivalent to approximately 3 (4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7) x50g balls of yarn (yarn estimates are approximate.)
I used 4 balls of Phildar Phil Light in Souris for the size medium.
Needles
6.5mm (US 10.5) circular knitting needles with a 100-150cm long cable, depending on the size you are making (or size needed to achieve tension.)
*I like to use circular knitting needles with long cables for all of my projects -when you don’t have enough stitches to fit the cable, switch to the Travelling Loop technique. You could also try knitting your sleeves two-at-a-time on one long circular knitting needle (and save yourself from Sleeve Island!)
